The Wave

Nestled in the little sleepy town of Hawley Beach, this striking home resonates as a “wave” about to break and hit the shore.
Designed as a two-storey open living home, to stand high enough to see over other homes and trees to capture views; this lovely light and airy home is a welcome delight for a busy working family weekend retreat.
The curved roof design mimics an ocean wave as it rolls up and over, just before the wave breaks over the row of easterly windows that not only allow lots of morning light, but also show a fantastic view.
The living area which faces north and looks out over a vineyard is perfect for entertaining any time of the day.
Guests can spill out to the deck to breathe in the sea air, while admiring either the calm tranquillity of the vineyard or the quiet crash of the ocean waves on the sea at the north east.
The expression of The Wave is captured in the smooth curve of the plaster ceiling and high curved top northern window above the stacker doors of the deck.
A hidden feature incorporated into this home is the parents’ retreat. A small secret deck that sneaks out from the parents’ bedroom and looks out to their private landscaped garden. This deck is nestled under the curve of the roof as it stretches down towards the ground on the west. This creates a perfect place of outdoor ambiance for those quiet moments alone to relax.
